Blueray 3D needs a higher framerate then 24 fps would love to see 48 fps but any improvement would be very nice, I have seen Avatar on both DVD and Blueray and of course the quality diffrence Blueray makes is amasing there is 5 times + as much detail and much more data storage for that format .

@AGentertainment What makes Blu Rays worth it is the picture quality. Nothing compares to a 1080p movie on a big screen. The features should be there, and I love them, but it's not a deal breaker for me. The picture quality to me is worth the extra money.

I like Blu-Ray, but they really skimp out on a lot of extra features on most discs warranting them useless. The DVD is cheaper for the same amount of material. I expected Blu-Ray discs to have way more special features, but in most cases, they'll usually have maybe one more than the DVD, and some none at all.

@tokman20 I cancelled my order because I had to have it on release day. Other than the Earth opening, I couldn't tell the rest of the new footage from the old footage.

This was kind of lame. Oh and yeah Blue ray is nice but I want the movie in 3D and since I don't have a 3d tv yet, and there are several different approaches to it a little assurance that a 3D Avatar is future proof and will work with all players for the foreseeable future. Free marketing advice.

@LukeR87 The IMAX the projectors only support 24 Hz per eyes. RealD 3D is actually the most stable with 72 Hz per eyes. 60 Hz per eye is then a lot closer to RealD than IMAX in term of frame rate.

@LukeR87 Did you know that polarized glasses have cross viewing problems, that they diminish the brightness of the picture by about 30% and that they add grain to the image? With todays active shutter glasses, the only issue is that you can't use them for more than 8 hours in a row. They are just as light as IMAX glasses, and don't have any of the problems I stated above. So, what is your basis for saying that?

@KingMuleRobba yes of course... the resolution is a lot higher, it only require a tv that can handle the resolution of 1080p, which it usally is on blu-ray.
